Site-specific sound action:
In the past, it was believed that the ancestral sounds of bells and cowbells possessed a ritual power of protection and evocation. Concierto para cencerros: lluecas, zumbas, campanes, boques estreches, esquiles y cascabeles (2025) was performed at the Museo Casa Natal de Jovellano within the framework of Museum Day. This sound action invites reflection on festive practices linked to local communities, some of which have traditionally been led by men and, in certain contexts, still maintain specific roles. The project was developed in collaboration with currently active local winter masquerades that use some form of sound object. The proposal was selected as part of the program El Palacio. Residencias Artísticas y Acción Cultural of the Ayuntamiento de Gijón.
Invited masquerades: Aguilandeiros de San Xuan de Villapañada, Guilandeiros de Tineo, Mazcaraos de Rozaes de Villaviciosa, Mazcaritos d’Uviéu, Os Reises del Valledor d’Ayande, Sidros y Comedies de Valdesoto, y Zamarrones de L.lena.
